BCATW ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The BC Association of Travel Writers (BCATW) held its Annual General Meeting on November 14th, 2009 at 1:00 in the Board Room at the Vancouver Public Library, 15 members in attendance.

President Rick Millikan reported on association progress: highly successful Symposium held at the Listel Hotel in May, featuring two keynotes; continuing upgrades to the BCATW website; ongoing project to post Board roles & responsibilities on the website & the transcribing of the BCATW Constitution into an electronic format, including updates & amendments.

Treasurer Robert Scheer outlined the association’s finances for the fiscal year, noting that Symposium expenses reflect two big events in 2008. With new members, the Association is over 44 members, including three industry members. Annual membership fees are due in January 2010.

A subcommittee of volunteers will mobilize the annual symposium. These experienced and enthusiastic members will: search for door prizes (Jan de Grass); venue, grand prize possibilities (Robert Scheer); topics, format & speakers (John Geary). The Board and others will pitch in as plans develop.

After completion of the agenda and lively exchange of motivating ideas, the meeting concluded about 3:00 pm. Light refreshments and mix ‘n’ mingle session followed.
