Application
Membership Criteria: BCATW offers three categories
of membership: Members (published travel writers)
Writers who have had at least Associate Members (unpublished travel writers) New travel writers are required to submit a 500-800 word article for evaluation by the members of the Board. This may be submitted by e-mail, with the text pasted into the body of the e-mail (i.e. no attachments please). Mailed in submissions should be double-spaced. Industry Members
may be tourist boards, visitors' bureaus, hotels, transportation companies, public
relations companies, attractions, tour operators and other travel industry representatives
who are able to assist media members with information, guidance or access to reduced-rate
transportation, accommodations or other travel-related services. All members must be willing to abide by our Code of Professional Conduct as outlined in our Mission Statement. Members are entitled to all the benefits of BCATW including the right to vote and hold Executive office. Once every two calendar years (January to December) those who wish to keep their membership in good standing will be required to provide BCATW with evidence of three different paid articles published during the previous 24 month period, either by way of tear sheets or by reference to paid on-line publications. Associate Members Members are those writers whose travel articles have not yet been published, but who have qualified for associate membership consequent upon acceptance of a sample story by the Board's Evaluation Committee. The period of Associate Membership is one year from the date of joining. Upon expiry of one year, Associate Members will be required to provide evidence of at least one article published during the previous 12 month period, either by way of tear sheets or by reference to paid on-line publications. Thereafter, two year membership renewal requirements will follow the same procedure as applicable to all fully accredited BCATW members. Associate Members pay the same annual dues as full members and are entitled to all the benefits of BCATW except that they are ineligible to vote or hold Executive office. We just need the
