Our aim is to increase the awareness of Malaysia amongst Canadians, and to retard if not eliminate people's misconceptions about Malaysia, such as the many negative stigmas attached to being a Muslim country. We want Canadians to think of Malaysia when they visit other Asian countries like neighboring Thailand, Indonesia & Singapore. Our pre-9/11 Canadian arrivals figure to Malaysia stood at 55,000. We have not been able to get past the mid 30,000 range, and are hoping to achieve our 55,000 objective this year, a special year during which we will be celebrating 50 years of independence & nationhood.
